Container gardens not only smell great in your home but also provide healthy and nutritious additions to your families' diet.

1) You will want to be certain that all of your garden containers are in an area that will provide enough sunlight for your vegetables to grow while allowing easy access for watering.
Though most of the vegetables you will be growing in your garden require much sunlight, there are some vegetables that can be grown in shaded areas such as cabbage and spinach.
However, a rotation of the containers is advisable to ensure that these particular vegetables get at least some sunlight when possible.
2) While hydration requirements may vary, it is advisable to water your plants one to two times daily.
3) Some ideal container garden candidates include; tomatoes, lettuce and radishes as they are known to be well suited for growth under these conditions.
Eggplants and most peppers can also be great for container gardening.
4) Selecting the proper soil for your garden is the key. Synthetic soils are usually better for these types of gardens.
Synthetic soils are often best for container gardens as they have nutrients such as vermiculture already added to a calculated mix that includes peat moss and sawdust.
Make sure that your containers will not dry out between watering and are free from any weed growth.
5) There are a multitude of options when choosing containers for your garden.
Keeping in mind specific requirements for your vegetables, Clay, ceramic, or even plastic containers may be used. You can also opt for more available alternatives such as bushel baskets, drums, gallon cans, tubs or wooden boxes etc.
6) Finally, it is recommended that you take great care while harvesting your vegetables. Additionally, when possible, saving seeds for future use is also encouraged.
